Pearson Launches Pearson Lab to Accelerate Emerging Learning Technologies

Dave Treat, Chief Technology Officer, PearsonLondon (UK), July 2025 - Pearson has unveiled a new innovation and research space dedicated to bringing to life products and services using emerging technologies that will shape the future of learning for school and work. Housed in Pearson’s London offices, the Lab will have a global reach, ensuring that Pearson remains at the forefront of innovation and helping deliver the company’s commitment to lead on the application of new technologies across its offering.

Pearson’s Chief Technology Officer, Dave Treat will oversee the Lab and its research and development team. The Lab and its team will have a particular focus on creating scalable solutions using Generative AI and immersive learning to support the lifelong learning needs of students, educators and working professionals. In addition, the work of the Pearson Labs team will include developing and testing prototypes and product solutions with Pearson customers and innovation partners.

The Pearson Lab innovation partnerships will join Pearson’s deep learning expertise with world class technology innovators. Pearson has already entered multiple partnerships, focused on immersive learning, to bring this vision to life.

Building on Pearson’s trusted relationships with students, educators and institutions, the Pearson Labs team will use data and feedback gathered from its customers to directly inform product development. The Lab will also act as a practical space to conduct customer research, showcase current and future products, and bring to life research and use cases. The Lab will be open to all employees – offering a space for upskilling, creativity, collaboration and experimentation.
