Featuring the OEB Debate

ONLINE EDUCA BERLIN Programme Now Online

Berlin (GER), October 2014 - ICWE 2014 marks the twentieth edition of ONLINE EDUCA BERLIN, the largest international conference on technology-supported learning and training. The Conference has been at the cutting edge of the field for two decades, and this year's event is no exception.

The recently published programme, featuring over 300 international speakers presenting in more than 60 sessions, includes a formidable lineup of keynote speeches from experts such as the celebrated founder of the Gapminder Foundation, Professor Hans Rosling (Sweden); eLearning guru Howard Rheingold (USA); McKinsey Global Chief Learning Officer Nick van Dam (the Netherlands); futurist Mark Stevenson (UK); and eLearning commentator Stephen Downes (Canada).

Parallel sessions will delve into the industry’s current and future trends, exploring topics such as the intersection between social media and learning (inside and outside of the classroom); whether eLearning programmes for employees really boost business and improve staff retention; and what radical democratisation of technology means for society.

Making its debut in 2014 is the Spotlight Stage, where expert speakers and special guests, including knowledge-networking expert Julia Hobsbawm and members of Berlin Singularity, a group formed to share and debate future tech themes and to promote philanthrotech ideas, will shed new light on the interrelationship among people, technology, and learning in a range of interactive formats.

This year’s OEB Debate will welcome back 2013 keynote speaker Dr Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, Oxford University Internet Institute’s charismatic Professor of Internet Governance and Regulation, alongside three other impassioned orators, to address a key issue for the world´s most data-mineable industry with the motion 'The house believes that data is corrupting education'.

During special Video EDUCA sessions and workshops, participants will learn all about why and how to use video in learning, whilst Business EDUCA sessions will focus on workplace learning and training. Top professionals from adidas Group, IBM, Correos, Deutsche Telekom, Pandora, and Simcorp, as well as industry gurus such as Charles Jennings, Craig Weiss, and Jay Cross, will be on hand to inspire audiences and spark cross-sector pedagogical discussions.

In addition, the Conference also offers a series of optional workshops, forums, and seminars led by distinguished industry professionals on 03 December 2014. ONLINE EDUCA BERLIN 2014 will take place in the Hotel InterContinental Berlin, 03-05 December 2014.
