UOC Is Offering Ten Grants for the Doctoral School

Barcelona (E), February 2015 - The Open University of Catalonia (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, UOC) is offering ten grants for the 2015-2016 academic year to study in three of the Doctoral School's programmes: the Information and Knowledge Society Programme; the Education and ICT (eLearning) Programme, and the Network and Information Technologies Programme. To be eligible for the UOC Doctoral Grants Programme, students must be full time and physically present on the University's premises. The deadline for applications for the Doctoral Programmes is 28 February 2015.

The maximum duration of the grants is four years. Grants require annual renewal, which is contingent on the students’ benefitting from such grants and achieving the training and research objectives established in each case. One of these objectives is to complete the organised research period within a maximum of three years. Another is to produce research papers derived from the doctoral thesis.

The programme will offer the possibility to develop “industrial doctorates”, with grants for the best applicants made in agreement with companies. Doctoral students undertaking an industrial doctorate will have a university supervisor and a tutor at the company.

The UOC is a fully accredited online university based in Barcelona and serving over 60,000 students worldwide. The University welcomes doctoral students who want to develop their research in a highly qualified international setting and as part of a doctoral programme that forms part of the Bologna process.

Prospective applicants can find information on the application procedure and the content and organization of the doctoral programme on the University’s website.
