New MOOC on Micronutrients and Malnutrition

Wageningen (NL), November 2015 - Want to learn more about malnutrition and micronutrients and how they influence human health? Then follow the new MOOC Nutrition and Health Part 2: Micronutrients and Malnutrition (NUTR102x) of Wageningen University. It started on 9 November and will take seven weeks.

Food plays a central role in our society, but few people actually understand what it does to our bodies. The new and free online course on platform edX.org will therefore focus on micronutrients and malnutrition. First, the team of professors from Wageningen University will introduce you into the chemistry of vitamins and minerals. Then they will consider the impact of malnutrition on global disease burden and the nutritional strategies to improve nutritional status and combat malnutrition.

Micronutrients and Malnutrition (NUTR102x) lasts for seven weeks and is free of charge. Students must factor in six to eight hours per week of study load. Prior knowledge is not necessary, but the course adds to the knowledge of Part 1, NUTR101x. The instructors will be Prof. Sander Kersten, Dr. Inge Brouwer, Dr. Guido Hooiveld, and Dr. Alida Boonstra, all from Wageningen University’s Division of Human Nutrition.
