Stavanger (NO), July 2008 - The University of Finance and Management in Bialystok, Poland, is currently in discussions with the Norwegian RKK concerning possible collaboration on the transfer of Norwegian eLearning models to Poland. A system for covering management training programs for the Republic of Kazakhstan is also in planning.
RKK is a Norwegian resource centre for vocational secondary schools, established by the Rogaland County Council in 1989 in cooperation with the Confederation of Norwegian Business and Industry (NHO) and the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). RKK is a foundation that coordinates the competence needs of the private and public sectors with the educational capacity of the county's upper secondary schools.
The aim of the Poland Project in the first instance is to establish an initiative with support from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and The Scholarship and Training Fund. In the longer term, the aim is to use these methods to educate skilled workers in Poland for areas in which Norway needs greater capacity: health and care sector and in various technical fields.
In Kazakhstan, at a meeting in Astana, Vice-Minister Farkhad S. Kuanganov and Managing Director Ole Imsland, RKK, signed a detailed activity plan for the period 2008 - 2010. The plan is based on a previous general agreement between RKK and the Ministry of Education and Science in the Republic of Kazakhstan and covers management training, ICT training, and regional development.
The planned actions will be implemented in close cooperation with the administrative staff of the Ministry, and regional activities are based on agreements with the Akim (governor) at the local level. Vice-Minister Kuanganov will head a delegation consisting of Vice-Akims, school directors, and company representatives that will visit Rogaland in August.
