Project on Strategic Competencies Successfully Completed

Kaunas (LT), September 2008 - The European Project "Development of Strategic Individual Competencies" was recently successfully completed. It resulted in a cross-nationally and cross-organizationally applicable catalogue of strategic individual competencies, a methodology of strategic individual competencies development, and an interactive self-assessment tool. All are now available online in six different languages.




The two-year project is part of the Leonardo framework. It was designed to cater to the needs of the fast processes of European integration, the complementary structure of business links, and the dynamisms of markets that require strategic guidelines for the development of united strategic individual competencies.

While integrating into the multicultural market of European labour force, with its different systems of learning and education and its varying traditions in the sphere of human resource management, the success of human resources depends primarily on strategic competencies of individuals.

Strategic individual competencies can be defined as the whole of knowledge, skills, abilities, and ways of working an employee has to master no matter what position he or she occupies within an organisation.

The catalogue of strategic individual competencies describes individual competences in the spheres of leadership, strategic thinking, and purposeful communication. The methodology of strategic individual competencies deals the principals of strategic individual competencies, presents the methods of strategic individual competency development and reasons for the expedience of the choice, introduces to the process of strategic individual competency development plan, and presents the catalogue of methods of strategic individual competency development.
