Seven Reasons to Join the Charity Learning Consortium

London (UK), February 2020 - Cash strapped charities achieve far more for less with their learning and development budgets when they join the Charity Learning Consortium. The team at the Learning Technologies exhibition explained why collaborating with more than 180 organisations in the Consortium family makes such great business sense. Rosie Haighton, Head of Membership, and Charlotte Gibson, Membership Development Manager, were on hand to explain the benefits.

Consortium members all use a digital, blended approach to developing the skills of their staff and volunteers, and research shows they achieve better results than their charity peers. In general, they save twice as much money on L&D as non-members in the sector, are twice as likely to report positive changes in staff behaviour, and are almost three times more likely to report that using learning technologies has improved their organisation’s productivity.

Membership in the Consortium includes these seven key highlights:

  1. an engaging Moodle learning management system - The Consortium has customised Moodle’s LMS with some bespoke features called RoadMap. It means the Consortium can offer some unique functionality. RoadMap can be personalised and includes an online booking tool, is compatible with most applications using single sign on, data syncs to external systems, and can host a wide range of other courseware and resources.
  2. groundbreaking compliance tracking - The Consortium has developed a functionality called RoadMap Replay, which automatically prompts learners to remain compliant.
  3. a popular hierarchy reporting tool called RoadMap Replay - This streamlines administration, allowing learning practitioners and managers to assign content to different learner groups and run completion reports instantly. This puts managers in the driving seat, so they can easily review their teams’ progress. Unlike other learning management systems, the Consortium offers an unlimited number of hierarchies to adapt to an organisation’s unique profile.
  4. an ingenious new way to tag learners: One size does not fit all, so learning pathways can easily be created in RoadMap. eLearning can then be assigned according to teams, groups, locations, and more to ensure it’s relevant to every learner.
  5. highly engaging Litmos Heroes and MicroLearn courseware called RoadMap Replay - More than 300 bite-sized eLearning courses are available in the Consortium library, with animated videos and characterful voiceovers; most are between five to ten minutes long. Mobile and tablet ready, they also come with a range of supplementary resources, such as infographics and workbooks.
  6. exclusive privileges to use Clear Lessons called RoadMap Replay - This is a library of 1,500+ videos that share work based wisdom. The video library features real people telling authentic stories about the work challenges they’ve solved. A wide range of general topics - like mental health and leadership - are covered, and there’s also charity specific content. Members get the benefit of single sign-on to this secure platform, allowing users to seamlessly access the video library to help engage their workforce and inspire a new learning culture. Videos can also be embedded into RoadMap to complement existing course pathways and give a blended offering.
  7. access to an amazingly supportive community of 180+ charitable organisations - Share best practice with like minded L&D professionals at complimentary quarterly members’ meetings and an annual conference. These are free events with inspirational speakers, case studies, workshops, and networking to support L&D success.
