Dublin (IE), February 2012 - The Irish Minister for Education and Science, Ruairí Quinn TD, has launched a €3.75m EU-funded initiative that aims to revolutionise the way science is taught and assessed in classrooms across Europe. The project, SAILS (Strategies for Assessment of Inquiry Learning in Science), is funded by the European Framework Programme (FP7) and is coordinated by a team from Dublin City University. Istanbul (TR), January 2012 - The Autonomous "Personal Learning Networks" for Language Teachers is a European Union-funded project to help language educators who are not yet using social networks to understand what social networks for language educators are, why they should use them, and how they can get involved. » MORE

London (UK), September 2011 - (by Bob Little) Among the key findings of a European Commission "Eurobarometer" survey on "Attitudes towards vocational education and training" are: Vocational education and training - in which nearly half of all Europeans choose to enrol after their compulsory education - has a generally positive image among most age groups. Berlin (GER), October 2011 - The German government's Gesellschaft für Internatioanle Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH recently organized an international Communication and Leadership Course in its GC21 E-Academy. During this project, candidates from Jordan, Kenya, and Zanzibar worked together in a virtual team. Most of the members were able to immediately integrate their experience into their daily work. » MORE
